Trstmap: restaurant and travel recommendations from friends, not strangers

Trstmap is a free iPhone app that maps the places your friends recommend: save places with a note, share them with friends who accept, and skip star ratings from strangers and sponsored listings.

Star ratings from strangers are easy to inflate and hard to trust. The recommendation you actually act on is a friend telling you where to eat. Trstmap puts those recommendations on a map: places from the people you trust.

Trstmap is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, with Android coming soon. It has no star ratings from strangers and no sponsored listings.

Save places with a note, not a score

Instead of rating a place out of five, you save it with a short note, the one you would actually tell a friend: get the grilled octopus, sit outside, go before seven. Each place is private or shared with friends, and private is the default.

Your friends’ places on one map

Add friends by username. A friendship only exists once both people accept, so there are no followers and no public feed. Your friends’ places show on your map with their profile picture, and you can open a friend’s profile to see their whole map, which is useful before a trip to a city they know.

A map, not a feed

Trstmap is one map plus one list. It opens on the places around you, in light or dark mode to match your phone. There is nothing to scroll and no algorithm deciding what you see.
